Savannah's Pro Event, An Autograph Seekers Paradise

Most golf fans hope to take a few memories away from the Liberty Mutual Legends of golf every year.

And one of the biggest deals is something small. People were collecting up close and personal proof of their encounters with Legends on the links.

There is no tournament like the Legends for Golf’s names from the past.

And for some fans, there’s no better place for them than programs, caps and pin flags. avannah’s pro event an autograph seekers paradise.

“You know, there’s so many legends out here and they’re so accessible; it’s nice,” said Rich Cassidy from Jacksonville, FL.

Especially on the first two days of the Legends, when the Demaret division brings out many former champions fans don’t get to see any other time of the year.

“It’s a real rare opportunity to get these guys, so I feel fortunate to be here, said George McLellan from Houston, Texas.

“We have the TPC in Jacksonville, but a lot of these players, of course, aren’t at that event; So it’s neat,” added Cassidy.

And it creates neat opportunities, like the one Alan Weisman is taking advantage of this week as he tries to fill up a book his wife bought at a flea market for $1 with a collection of signatures, he’ll consider priceless.

“Because it’s the old-timers, it’s the guys I grew up with back in the 50s and 60s,” explained Alam Weisman from Bluffton. “I come here every year to get stuff signed and this year I figured I’d work on the book. If I get it I can probably get 72 pieces signed in there. And it’s really, really nice.”

And what Weisman takes away from from his efforts on Hutchinson Island will be too.

“It’s going to mean a lot because the memories and the challenge is there. And basically that’s it,” he said.

So is the legends when it comes to rare golf autographs.
